|A distinctive feature of the bearings design is a big radius of rollers and raceway rings generatrix. This feature enables the bearings to be self-aligning that is to work properly at mounting and operating misalignment of the shaft with respect to the housing up to 0,5°, and to accommodate the axial rings displacement within ±10% of their width. Toroidal roller bearings are designed to accommodate only the radial loads and they are not able to accommodate the axial ones. A large contact area provides the toroidal roller bearings with the highest load carrying capacity among all the bearing types with the equal cross sections.|
Toroidal roller bearings are produced with cylindrical or tapered bores for mounting on the tapered shaft neck or on adapter or withdrawal sleeve. The bearings have received the primary application as the floating long-length shaft supports to compensate the thermal displacement of the shaft inside the bearing, in the gears and gearboxes, which require high load carrying capacity, compact size and insensitivity to the angular misalignments.
Toroidal roller bearings are equipped with the glass fibre reinforced polyamide, pressed steel or massive brass cages. If it is necessary to provide the extremely high radial load capacity the bearings can be manufactured without the cage with the maximum number of rollers.
